Twenty-seven years ago, the Supreme Court of Canada struck down Canada’s only abortion law. Since that ruling, abortion is available on-demand through all nine months of pregnancy up to the moment of delivery for any reason or no reason.
For the past nine years the conservative government has done everything within its power to avert a discussion, debate or even consider Canada’s status quo on the issue of abortion. But like it or not, the issue of abortion is sure to dominate the 2015 election due to Justin Trudeau’s undemocratic edict to disallow pro-life candidates to represent the Liberal Party. It begs the question, how does Mr. Trudeau’s position differ from the Conservative government’s position? We’re not sure what’s worse, a prime minister who gives the illusion of a free vote and then pressures MPs to vote against pro-life bills/ motions or not having pro-life representation in the House of Commons. The end result is the same.
