Coffee & Dessert Evening 2013

Cambridge Right to Life will be celebrating its 40th anniversary at our Dessert & Coffee Evening on Thursday, May 23rd, 2013. It is a bittersweet celebration.  Bitter, because we mourn the over 3 million Canadian human beings who lost their most basic right and freedom through our unjust abortion law.  Sweet, because we celebrate Cambridge Right to Life’s service to our community, which has resulted in the untold lives saved through our pro-life work. The event will begin at 7:00 pm  at The Pines, located at  115 Fountain St. South, Cambridge.  Tickets are $15 per person.  Our guest speaker is Conservative Member of Parliament Mark Warawa who has introduced Motion 408. His motion calls on the House of Commons to condemn sex-selective [...]

A Very Un-Canadian Practice

In June 2012 the CBC revealed that  ultrasounds were being used in Canada to identify the sex of a child before birth. Armed with the knowledge of the sex of their child, some parents have proceeded to have an abortion simply because the child is a girl.  For more information exploring this growing problem in Canada and around the world go here. An Environics poll commissioned by LifeCanada in 2012 found that 92% of Canadians believe gender selection abortion should be illegal. Conservative MP Mark Warawa has introduced a motion in the House of Commons asking parliament to condemn the practice.  Mr. Warawa will be our guest speaker at out annual Coffee & Dessert Evening on [...]

Put a ring on it

Did you know that today (February 12) is Sexual and Reproductive Health Day? Canada's Chief Public Health Officer, Dr. David Butler-Jones is encouraging all Canadians to visit the Public Health Agency of Canada website to inform themselves and others on how to reduce the spread of sexually transmitted infections. While sexually transmitted infections continue to be a significant and increasing public health concern, maybe we'd have more sucess in combatting this epidemic if we encouraged saving sex until marriage. The decision to have sex is a very important one. Sexual relationships affect your physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. All of us want to love and be loved, but sex is not a game! Our sexuality is a gift and when used [...]

Let’s Talk…

The Bell Let's Talk initiative launched today is focused on raising awareness and encouraging dialogue about mental health. This is a good thing! Talking about mental health is the first step in making a difference in the lives of all Canadians.  If we are serious about removing the stigma surrounding mental health, we must also be serious about talking about what can contribute to mental health issues. We know that abortion harms harms mental health for both women and men. This is not to say that everyone who suffers from mental health issues has had or been involved in abortion but research has indicated that those who have been involved in abortions are at risk of severe mental health [...]

When Good Men Do Nothing

In the face of injustices in our world, one always hopes that individuals in positions of leadership will respond with conviction and honour to right whatever wrong has come to light. On January 25, 2013, Cambridge Right to Life visited MP Gary Goodyear's office to seek justice for the 491 Canadian babies who survived abortion and then were left to die. See https://cambridgerighttolife.ca/seeking-justice-for-babies-left-to-die/. We asked that our government seek a parliamentary inquiry into the homicides of these children and that protections be put in place, including emergency medical care, for children who survive abortion. The following week, on January 31st, three MPs called for an RCMP investigation into these homicides. Responding in the House of Commons to questions surrounding their request for an investigation, Prime Minister Harper [...]

PROTEST WALK TODAY!

January 28, 2013 marks the25th anniversary of the day the Supreme Court struck down Canada's abortion law. For a quarter of century, pre-born children have had no legal protection. This is THE  human rights issue of our day!   We have had no law protecting preborn children since that infamous day. It is legal to kill them at any stage in pregnancy for any reason. Please join us at MP Gary Goodyear's office (1425 Bishop Street N)  today (January 25) form 1:00 - 2:00 pm!

Seeking justice for babies left to die

On Friday, January 25, 2013, Cambridge Right to Life will mark the 25th anniversary of the day the Supreme Court of Canada struck down Canada’s abortion law by visiting MP Gary Goodyear's office (1425 Bishop St., N from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.). We were told that the minister will likely not be available to meet with us but we will present the following letter. We look forward to Minister Goodyear's response.  Letter to Hon. Gary Goodyear, MP January 25, 2013  Dear Minister Goodyear: Statistics Canada recently released startling figures which indicated that between 2000 and 2009, 491 Canadian babies, of 20 weeks gestation and greater, were left to die after failed abortions1 (does not include stillbirths). There are several things [...]
